George Hotel

Located at 21 George Street, three original houses from 1780 have been joined and extended to form an up-market hotel with Corinthian columns to bring them all together.
George Street was intended to be the main thoroughfare in Edinburgh "New Town" and is 20 feet wider than even Princes Street (which eventually became the location of the most popular shops). Due to the work of conservationists, George Street has managed to retain most of its Georgian facades (even if the buildings behind are sometimes modern).
